Chase Backdoor Phone Numbers

I wanted to start off mentioning a core rule that Chase Bank follows when it comes to credit card approval criteria. Chase follows what they call a 5/24 rule, which means its almost impossible to get approved for a new Chase credit card if you have 5 + new accounts on your credit file in last 24 months. As with all things in credit, this isn’t a set in stone rule, its just what the majority experience.

5 new revolving credit lines on your profile- meaning AUs, Personal Loans and Store cards all count! Installment loans don’t count nor do inquiries to accounts you didn’t get approved for so they don’t care as much if you’re getting your credit ran as much as they care how many accounts you open per 2 yr block of time.

These same rules also apply to CLIs with Chase now too, so 5/24 on your CLIs.

Personal Data Point: I attempted to apply for Chase Freedom which I was pre-approved for on Credit Karma and on the Chase pre-approval page, had 5 new accounts and 9 inquiries on a 730 Experian and a very strong credit profile. Was instantly denied. Stick to the 5/24 unless over an 810. This happened in 2020

This is a list of Chase Bank backdoor phone numbers and reconsideration numbers that you can use to help improve your chances of getting approved for a Chase Bank card. These to me anyway are a higher quality card, I put them up there with American Express credit cards so lets improve our odds!

What is a recon phone number?

A recon phone number is a reconsideration phone number that you can call to have someone manually review your credit application. This could improve your chances of getting approved, especially if you know you were denied or 7-10 day lettered due to credit file being locked or they pulled an older report of yours and your score has improved since then.
